Bruce Sutherland (1904-1970) was a Penn State professor and scholar of Australian literature. He came to Penn State in 1947, served as acting head of the English Department in 1957, and established the Moody Collection of Australian literature and works of art. Colin Roderick was an Australian author, educator, and editor, and a major influence on 20th century Australian literary affairs, perhaps best known for his books about Australian literature. Born in 1911 in Queensland, he served as editor and later director of the publishing house Angus & Robertson, 1945-1965, and Professor of English at James Cook University, 1965-1976.
